Dual Credit & Running Start

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

FHHS offers many AP courses. AP courses are college-level courses established through the College Board, and taught in high school classrooms. AP students are required to take the end-of-course AP exam in May. Students receive a score of 1-5 on their exam. Some colleges award credit for certain scores (typically a 4 or 5), but this varies at each college.

There is a $99 fee for AP courses ($5 for students who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch).

See the course catalog and master schedule on the homepage for AP course offerings.

College in the High School

Students at FHHS have the opportunity to take FHHS courses that offer FREE college credit. These courses are taught by FHHS teachers. Talk to your teacher or Hailey in the CCC for more information, or see the course catalog on the homepage.

College in the High School courses at FHHS include:

  • Financial Algebra
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology
  • Pre-Calculus

Running Start

Any junior or senior can participate in Running Start. Most FHHS students access courses at our local community college, Skagit Valley College (SVC), but you can do Running Start through any community college in WA, and some participating 4 year colleges. Running Start offers a wide range of courses that FHHS students can take to meet their high school graduation requirements AND earn college credit. All Running Start courses are online (unless you commute to the mainland), and they are taught by college professors. Tuition is covered, though students do have to pay for technology/book fees. Talk to Hailey in the CCC for more information.
